EMW Community Library Opening Featuring Junot Díaz
Saturday, April 9th, 1-4PM
Join us on Saturday April 9th for the unveiling of our community library. We are hoping to curate a collection that highlights the narratives of marginalized peoples (especially people of color), confronts the problems of oppression through an intersectional lens, and seeks to create a just, liberated world.
Community Library Donations:
Our community library needs your help to make this collection a reality. We are seeking contributions from our EMW family and would love to see our community library stock:
• Books, chapbooks, comics, zines, cassettes, vinyls, CDs, DVDs, and other media
• Fiction and nonfiction literature by people of color, women of color, and queer and trans people of color
• Critical theory, history, ethnic studies, feminist studies, and queer studies
• Resources to support marginalized peoples and to promote an understanding of community organizing
• A collection for people of all ages
• A collection that is multilingual and reflects the languages used in our communities

We invite members of our community to share stories about a significant book, song, or artistic work in line with the theme "Mirrors". Think back to the first show you watched or book you read where you remember seeing yourself represented in some way - growing up, most media and art representions we've seen do not show or affirm people of color and marginalized communities.
Format is as follows: 1 minute dedicated to reciting, showing, playing, or listening to a section of reference media, then 2 minutes dedicated to your personal story. Works and stories should not go against our Safer Space Code of Conduct. You can sign up in advance by emailing ricky@emwbookstore.com
