Boston Public Library’s Concerts in the Courtyard 2016

For those who work in the Copley area, your lunch break on Fridays is about to sound much sweeter. Starting June 1, the Boston Public Library’s Concerts in the Courtyard series kicks off for the 2016 season, with two free performances every week in the serene McKim Courtyard.

The one-hour concerts will take place Wednesdays at 6 p.m. and Fridays at 12:30 p.m. through August 31, and include all types of genres ranging from jazz to classical to world and folk. For a quick classy, groovy, lighthearted break from the summer doldrums, head to the BPL. They’ve got you covered.

An interactive-theatre experience featuring a blend of monologue, traditional Armenian dance, erotic performance and live music, Dear Armen weaves together the voices and struggles of three generations of women and gender non-conforming Armenians.

Dear Armen follows the story of a genderqueer writer and student, Garo, as they study the life and work of Armen Ohanian, an enigmatic Armenian performer and survivor of the early 20th-century anti-Armenian pogroms in Baku. As Garo grapples with the discrepancies between Ohanian's biography and memoirs, they are forced to confront memories from the past, unraveling experiences around gender, sexuality, ethnicity, family, and the role of the artist. An interactive-theatre experience featuring a blend of monologue, traditional Armenian dance, erotic performance and live music, Dear Armen weaves together the voices and struggles of three generations of women and gender nonconforming Armenians. Unveiling fragmented legacies of genocide and displacement, the narrative kaleidoscopes stories that highlight the complexities of survival.

Memorial Day Weekend was one for the books. It's been great seeing new people sharing and spreading the vibes every month. We thank everyone for their continued support!! But as Spring ends and Summer quickly approaches, it's time to start celebrating the best time of the year to be in Boston. This month's edition of The Wave Boston will take place on Sunday, June 19th!

Every single one of our DJs this month will be making their Wave debut. Local DJ/Producer Killer Kowalski will be setting the vibes first. After him will be DJ ABD (of the Bad Rabbits) to keep the party going. And closing things out for the night will be NYC's own Ella Hu$$le. Thousands of Cambridge residents and visitors will gather in front of Cambridge City Hall for this annual, dance event with DJ music.
