Octopus Books will be publishing Simone I John's chapbook, "Collateral" on Sandra Bland's birthday, February 7th. "Collateral" takes as its starting point the transcript from the dash cam video in the Sandra Bland case. The chapbook will be included in Simone's first collection, Testify (Octopus Press, 2017).
To celebrate the release of the chapbook, Simone John and Intelligent Mischief are collaborating on a night of poetry, performances, and conversations centering on police brutality and other issues affecting women of color. (Keep an eye on this invite for a list of performers!) The event will be hosted by none other than Amanda Torres herself.
Part of the proceeds of all chapbook sales will be donated to Intelligent Mischief to support the work they do to promoting radical change for POC through art + design.
