Join Mayor Marty Walsh as he welcomes another dance party to City Hall Plaza Friday, August 8th! DJ Deano Sounds and Cultures of Soul meets Ty Jesso and Soulelujah!
Deano Sounds has been DJing and collecting rare vintage records for over a decade now. In 2008 he started DJing for Viva Radio and created his Cultures of Soul Radio Show which features eclectic vintage music for the dancefloor from across the globe. He started Cultures of Soul Records shortly after this releasing rare but danceable vintage records from all over the world, receiving high praise from DJs and collectors alike including DJ Andy Smith, Gilles Peterson and Soulclap.
On the DJing tip, Deano has been a recurring guest at Boston's premier soul night, Soulelujah and as well as holding down his own residencies at some of the hippest venues in the Boston area. Deano has also guest DJed across the globe at established club nights in Pittsburgh, LA, Brooklyn, and London.
DJ Ty Jesso is from Providence, RI and has been spinning old school Soul, RnB, Funk, Oldies and Boogaloo nationally and internationally since the 80s. Besides Ty’s weekly Soul/RnB dance party “Soulelujah!” legendary club nights such in Baltimore, NYC and London. For this event, Ty will be spinning some of the best Soul, RnB, Funk & Boogaloo 45s on the planet.
It all goes down for free at City Hall Plaza at 6pm. Bring your best dancing shoes and get ready to cut a rug ... or concrete in this instance.
