Free Studio Space + Housing for Artists

The deadline for application for our new Artist-in-Residence program is a week from tomorrow! Please forward this email through your networks to anyone who may be interested in applying:

The Umbrella is proud to launch our Artist-in-Residence program for the 2014-2015 season. We are currently accepting submissions from artists of all media in the first five years of their career who are not enrolled full-time in an academic program.

The Umbrella’s Artist-in-Residence program provides free studio space and housing for a new artist to develop their work while connecting to the Greater Boston art community. The selected artist will commit to regular, active, and productive use of the studio space starting September 2014. In addition, the artist will be expected to participate in two open studio weekends and give three evening presentations to the community over the course of the year. At the end of the year, the artist will mount an exhibition of their work from the program and produce a digital portfolio, which will become part of The Umbrella archive.

The artist-in-residence will be awarded a 132 square foot studio with a shared lobby space, and will have the opportunity to live rent-free in a single bedroom cottage within walking distance of The Umbrella. To apply, visit http://www.emersonumbrella.org/resident-artists/call-for-artists/
