Public Art Boston

Get to know Public Art Boston

Brought to you by the Boston Art Commission

Feeling inspired to get a little artsy this summer? The Boston Art Commission has two great ways for you to have some fun while beautifying our city.  The Joining Project is Yarn Bombing the Mass Ave Bridge and the PaintBox Project is enlisting local artists to paint their neighborhood utility box.  Both opportunities are open to anyone in the city, so grab a few friends and get going!

The Joining Project

Crochet and knit the Mass Ave Bridge in Boston with us!

Knit a 12' square (or see Join Form for more) and we will piece it all together every weekend in June.  Drop off at the Mills Gallery or Bead + Fiber by end of May. Any Color You Like.

Everyone is welcome to participate. Please create knit art that reflects connectivity, warmth, love and joy.  We will install first week of June.
The PaintBox Project

Artist: Peter Zierlein
Neighborhood: Jamaica Plain
Location: Map it
Date: Tuesday, October 22, 2013

PaintBox aims to highlight local artists within their community and, in doing so, brighten up the streets and deter the vandalization of utility boxes.

Through PaintBox, the Art Commission asks Boston artists and residents to get out on the streets of their neighborhoods and help create an ongoing dialogue about art by painting utility boxes.
