Flashmob Against the Corporate "Fix the Debt" Campaign
For months, a national group called "Fix the Debt" has claimed to be a grassroots effort supporting 'common sense' steps to reduce the national debt. In truth, Fix the Debt is a special interest group made up of major corporations and banking giants, spending millions on advertising and congressional lobbying. Despite their rhetoric, these efforts aim to slash Social Security and raise the retirement age on seniors, using the proceeds to finance huge tax giveaways to companies like GE, Bank of America and Verizon.
Some of the major backers of this special interest front group have operations right here in Boston -- and local workers and seniors are ready to fight back! Join us Wednesday, January 30 for a fun, flashmob-style action to raise awareness of the corporate giants behind Fix the Debt and its push for taxpayer-funded corporate welfare.
Flashmob participants should meet at 11am at MassUniting for a short practice run. Transportation will be arranged from there. Those who would prefer to just be in the crowd can meet us inside the main doors of South Station at 12 noon. We will walk over to the destination as a group in time to start around 12:30pm.
