Haley House Bakery Cafe is pleased to announce the fourth annual Haley House Outdoor “Community Tables” Dinner, to be held on Saturday, August 20th in the Haley House Bakery Café parking lot at 12 Dade Street in Roxbury, MA. This event begins at 5pm, and food is available on a first come-first served basis. [The rain date is Sunday, August 21st from 5-8 PM.]
This year’s outdoor dinner will welcome our neighbors for a buffet Roast Chicken Dinner (with Vegan Cutlets available as an alternative entrée). Numerous side dishes will be available, largely made with produce sourced from and sometimes donated by local farms, including Haley House’s own Thornton Farm in Highland Park. The meal will close with Haley House’s signature Chocolate Chip Cookies. All of the food will be prepared by Haley House Bakery Café staff with the help of volunteers.
Community Tables at Haley House is about more than just great meals. It is a time to meet our neighbors, find common ground, and celebrate food and one another. We believe that everyone deserves a seat at the table and everyone has a story to tell.
Every Saturday evening for the last 41 months, Haley House Bakery Café has hosted a “Community Tables” dinner, inviting neighbors for a 3- course meal (including a delicious dessert). At the end of the meal, all attendees are presented with an envelope, in which they leave an anonymous contribution for their meal. The program is presented with the “pay-what-you-can” model (the suggested cost for a meal is $10, but no one is ever turned away).
During this year’s Outdoor Community Table, guests will be welcomed to the event by the JP Honk Band. Our host for the evening will be the amazing Fulani Haynes (who hosts Community Tables every Saturday night at Haley House Bakery Cafe). There will be face-painting and other family friendly activities. DJ Jose Masso will be spinning the discs for the event and there will definitely be dancing!
