Dorchester Winter Farmers Market Jan6, every sun

On Sunday, January 6th, the Dorchester Winter Farmers’ Market -- the first of its kind in Dorchester and the first Winter Farmers’ Market in Boston to accept SNAP and EBT payments – will launch its second season. The market, located at the Codman Square Health Center Great Hall 6 Norfolk Street, will run every Sunday for 12 weeks, from 12-4 PM. The market’s opening day will feature a marching band, food trucks, free massages, free treats, children’s activities and more.

The Winter Farmers’ Market was founded in 2012 with a simple goal: to be a hub for fresh food, to create a gathering spot for Dorchester, the largest and most diverse community in Boston, and to ensure that the neighborhood’s mixed income residents have year-round access to affordable, fresh food options. After a highly successful first season, this year’s market will feature 11 vendors offering local produce, meat, cheese and baked goods, including items that meet the cultural cuisines of the neighborhood.
The market is sponsored by the Dorchester Community Food Co-op. Check out coverage of the Food Co-op in the Boston Globe this December.
