A new tradition
Jamaica Plain has no shortage of talented and diverse musicians, composers, and performers. On Saturday, August 20, 2011 they were given the chance to come together for one incredible day of music. They were able to listen to each other perform and celebrate the incredible musical nexus that is Jamaica Plain. The festival featured all genres, all ethnicities, all persuasions, all ages. For all of us.
There is deep pride Jamaica Plain. It manifests in one-of-a-kind Mom and Pop stores, restaurants, bars, art galleries, sports leagues, and political, cultural, and historical groups.

The musicians that live in Jamaica Plain have played all over the city and country. Despite the thriving scene that manifests itself in a few local  venues and basement shows, there hasn't been an opportunity for these artists to get together locally on a large scale. Until last year's inaugural JP Music Fest.

The Jamaica Plain Music Festival's goal is to celebrate the diverse and creative sounds of many of our local musicians.

The concept of the Festival was developed by a group of long-standing residents. We have recently formed a 501c3, nonprofit corporation, and Board of Directors.
This festival is coordinated by a group of friends who are committed to music and the arts and Jamaica Plain. Our goal is to make this an annual event that will grow in size and attendance over the years.
