Celebration of Latin Music-July 21st

Caliente: A Celebration of Latin Music

This free event celebrates the Latin arts in Boston. The 2012 concert is Saturday, July 21st from 7-9pm at City Hall Plaza. The 2012 headliner is Willie Colon.

One of the most popular acts currently on the Latin music circuit, Frankie Negron has earned Grammy Award nominations, Billboard Award nods, two Premio Lo Nuestro Awards for Song of the Year, and several Number One singles, one Gold and four Platinum album awards. Frankie Negron's current project is his first English language record entitled Independence Day, which is due out September 22, 2009. The album is a composite of Negron's natural romanticism with a little rock, pop, and a healthy dash of the sounds of salsa. It's a bold creative move for a young man with a dedicated Latin fan base, known for his romantic ballads and emotionally charged vocal performances.
The festival program also features performances by Salvadoran salsero Alex Deras, and local artists and organizations including La PiƱata, a unique program that teaches Boston youth Latin American cultural performing arts, and in turn they share these with the community at large through interactive, and educational presentations.
